How to Handle Cash Register

Cash register is a register where all cash transactions are recorded. It is very important device of a retail store or shop. Cash register can be maintained manual form or computerized form.

 In manual form all cash transactions are recorded manually. In computerized cash transactions are entered in computer by using some application like MS-Excel. Despite maintaining cash register manually one should prefer computerized form. Because computerized form has some benefits like, easy to enter details, easy to rectify and easy to calculate cash received or paid.

To handle cash register follow following steps:

 Step 1: Use computerized application to handle cash register. For this MS-Excel is the best option. Because it is very easy to use and it has so many mathematical features.

 Step 2: Enter transactions in cash register. Always keep difference between purchase and sale, expenses and incomes etc.

Step 3: Create necessary columns and rows as to your business. For example if you deal in sale of books. Then you can create books purchase columns, books sale columns etc.

 Step 4: Always keep backup of your cash register. For this you can use CD or DVD, which you can buy from any office supply store. Copy your all data in CD or DVD.
